What is the process for commissions?
Reach out via email or by phone so that I can learn more about your vision for a custom weaving. I’ll ask for details about the space and approximate dimensions. Then we’ll explore design options such as weaving style, fiber & wood type as well as color palette. I’m also often asked to do a site visit and share my recommendations for the ideal weaving for a space. In both situations, the design process is collaborative. A non-refundable 50% deposit is needed to initiate your project.
What is the timeframe for commissions?
Commissions are ideally booked 1-3 months in advance. Depending on your design and specific materials, a custom weaving can be ready for delivery between 2 weeks (for smaller pieces created with in-stock materials) to 3 months (for larger pieces or those that require more bespoke materials or custom-dyed color palettes).
How do I hang a weaving?
Your piece will come with a French cleat hanging system, making it particularly secure. One cleat is already attached to your weaving, the other will attach to your wall. Weavings are heavy so affixing hardware to a stud is key.
How do I care for my weaving?
Pieces that are woven with felted wool are particularly resilient and hearty. They can be dusted with a dry cloth or even vacuumed. Pieces woven with raw linen or viscose tassel-like material can also be dusted with a dry cloth but need to be handled a bit more gently as their strands can be snagged. We recommend that all weavings that have color (a non-neutral palette) be protected from bright sunlight to avoid fading or sun damage.
